SEWA TT claims to have raised nearly half a million dollars to help COVID-19 victims in India and those affected by the volcano in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Reevan Teelucksingh, the head of Sewa TT, told Guardian Media today that $112,000 had been collected for India.
He explained that the funds were sent directly to SEWA USA to procure oxygen concentrators because the organization had established a close partnership with the manufacturers. The concentrators, he said, cost $500 US dollars each. He also stated that SEWA UK has been working to help India get oxygen concentrators.
Teelucksingh also announced that SEWA Bharat is currently operating in India, offering food assistance to incarcerated people.
The SEWA TT head characterized the humanitarian aid drive in St Vincent as “phenomenal,” with over $300,000 raised for the volcano victims.
Teelucksingh stated that both the India and St Vincent aid drives would end on May 10th, 2021, for SEWA to resume its assistance to COVID-19 victims in T&T.
SEWA TT’s president requests people to contribute to the organization’s humanitarian relief efforts by going to sewa.org or calling 333-SEWA (333-7392).
