Date:

On April 9, the La Soufrière volcano in St. Vincent erupted, causing 20,000 residents to flee and left thousands of locals sheltering in evacuation centers.

MAP International is a worldwide health agency with the purpose of providing medications and healthcare supplies to the globe’s most underprivileged communities.

MAP International is prepping a 40-foot vessel stocked with medicine, consumables, water purifiers, Liquid IV, disinfection, bedding, and hygiene items.

MAP’s emergency relief activities are more successful when they collaborate with colleagues and funders.
MAP International is a worldwide health organization that supports and distributes medications and healthcare supplies to the globe’s most disadvantaged communities. It is extending its disaster assistance effort to assist victims of the April 9 volcano eruption of St. Vincent’s La Soufrière volcano, which forced nearly 20,000 locals to flee and left hundreds more sheltering in evacuation centers.

MAP International first collaborated with Food For The Poor organization to provide almost 1,000 Disaster Health Kits (DHKs) to St. Lucia as emergency help for refugees from St. Vincent. The group will continue emergency assistance activities in the coming weeks. It is believed that 15percent of the island’s inhabitants continue to dwell in temporary shelters.

DHKs from MAP International provide one week of assistance to a person who lives in a camp. Antibacterial wipes, soaps, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other necessities are included with the DHKs.

The Johnson and Johnson Family of Companies generously offered 20 J&J Medical Mission Packs to calamity affected people in collaboration with the Johnson and Johnson Foundation, a long-time institutional collaborator of MAP International. All of these packages contain a variety of consumer goods and medical necessities for both adults and children, including such masks, oral rehydration liquids, painkillers, and vitamins.

MAP International is assembling a 40-foot container box with supplies of drugs, medical equipment, water purifiers, Liquid IV, protective gear, vests, disinfection, bedding, and sanitation goods. MAP International partners will continue sending DHKs to St. Vincent.

In addition to these collaborations, Edwards Lifesciences personnel aided MAP International by packaging DHKs to be transported straight to World Pediatric Project, one among MAP’s local partners in St. Vincent. The World Pediatric Project is dedicated specifically for assisting families and children in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

According to Jodi Allison, Vice President of Global Giving at MAP International, teamwork with collaborators and contributors is what made MAP successful in emergency relief initiatives. “Partnerships, either with huge businesses, in-country humanitarian groups, or church groups, are critical to MAP’s ability to reach that many individuals as it does. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the La Soufrière volcanic explosion, and we are dedicated to maintaining our partnership with our partners to bring disaster relief to people in St. Vincent who have been devastated.”
